We Honor Memorial Day With This Special Episode From Black Is America
The special Memorial Day episode of the award-winning "Black Is America" podcast pays tribute to the life and legacy of Doris "Dorie" Miller, an African American Navy cook who became a hero during the attack on Pearl Harbor, despite racial segregation.
The podcast follows Miller's journey, from his origins in Waco, Texas, to his courageous actions during World War II, and finally his recognition and tragic death aboard the USS Liscome Bay.
The episode also highlights Charles Jackson French's bravery on the USS Gregory and considers a hypothetical scenario involving Jackie Robinson at Pearl Harbor. The aim is to honor Miller's courage and his enduring legacy as a defender of America.
Help us honor these soldiers and the many others whom have dedicated their lives in the service of our country.
