One of the challenges of attracting guests and listeners in this rapidly growing business is distinguishing yourself as a host. Most prospective guests don't even listen to your podcast. They look at your profile, social media, and ratings to decide if they want to appear on your podcast. I'd prefer that they listen to a few episodes but it is what it is. Some of the things you can add to your profile to stand out include publications, awards, and professional achievements.
Recently, I was selected to do a TEDx talk. I was thrilled as this was an opportunity to combine my passions for public speaking, racial equity, and healthcare. I spoke on the parallels between racism and dentistry. As a result, I am now being approached by amazing people who are eager to appear on my show and they always mention the TEDx talk. If you host a podcast, you are already a public speaker. I highly recommend that you use your communication skills on every available platform. It will complement your podcasting in a wonderful way!
