Content Is Queen’s Open Letter To The Audio Industry
A recent open letter to the audio industry on ContentIsQueen.org has brought to light a pressing issue: the lack of support for marginalized creators in the sector.
The letter, penned by lead author, and founder/CEO of Content Is Queen, Imriel Morgan, calls for a significant shift—from words to action—in the industry's approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Despite public commitments to these principles, the industry has fallen short of its promises. The letter highlights a stark disparity, with millions spent acquiring individual creators, while a fractional sums are pledged to support BIPOC/African podcasters.

The open letter makes five key demands of the audio industry, calling for transparency, accountability, investment, partnership, and education to better support underrepresented creators. It's not just a plea—it's a challenge for the industry to show meaningful action and a long-lasting commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The message is clear: the audio industry needs to take real, substantive steps towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's not enough to make promises - it's time for meaningful action.

Tenderfoot TV Seizes Opportunities in Podcast Boom: Innovates with Subscription Model and Diversified Genres
Tenderfoot TV, a podcast production studio founded in 2016 by Payne Lindsey and Donald Albright, has produced successful true crime shows like Up and Vanished, Dead and Gone, and Atlanta Monster. Despite increased competition due to the growing market, the network has gained extensive audiences, industry recognition, and commercial success, partnering with major organizations like Audible, Spotify, Netflix, HBO, and Blumhouse Television.
Under Albright’s leadership, Tenderfoot is considering other monetization methods besides traditional advertising and commission-based creation, including IP licensing and subscriptions. IP licensing offers potential revenue from networks and streaming services interested in turning successful podcasts into TV shows. However, Albright cautions against complete reliance on this, recommending careful IP management to avoid development issues.
Tenderfoot is also focusing on subscriptions as a steady source of revenue that can fund new shows without needing advertising partnerships. By basing their strategy on subscriber revenue, they aim to focus on content that drives subscriber acquisition and retention, rather than total listens and ad income.
Additionally, Albright is passionate about evolving podcasting as a creative medium and not just an advertising platform, stressing the need for the industry to develop its own stars instead of relying on pre-established celebrities. The company plans to expand into new genres and formats, including Spanish-language podcasts, as part of its ongoing evolution.
