🎵Hello..is it me you’re looking for🎵… Feature Friday! ✨
My hope is that the future of podcasting becomes more inclusive to different unique voices.
Indeed, unique voices…that’s what Dr. Nina Polyné really strives for as part of the company Wondermind, which is an ecosystem. Yup, you heard that right its an ecosystem. Wondermind (the company was created by Mandy Teefy and Selena Gomez in 2022) - the world's first mental fitness ecosystem on a mission to democratize and de-stigmatize mental health. They combine easy-to-understand articles with proven techniques, replacing jargon & judgment with expert-backed tips for healthier habits.
You’re probably thinking, okay thats cool…but what about the podcast? Is there a podcast? Yup there is, Dr. Polyné’ is the host of Baggage Drop. By the way, I love the name it’s a literal feeling, and a play on words. Baggage can mean something different for every person. It's all about losing what's weighing down your growth, and learning how to begin a new habit that is aligned with your values road map. 💯 It’s where healthy habits, mindset adjustments, and busy schedules collide.
Hosted by experts from Wondermind’s Advisory Committee — Dr. Jessica Stern, Dr. Ryan Howes, Alo Johnston LMFT, and Dr. Nina Polyné — Baggage Drop delivers repeatable and powerful mental fitness tools to help rewire your mindset for personal impact.
When the podcast industry began to grow, I had a difficult time finding voices like mine speaking on topics I was interested in, and also from women who looked like me. The diversity of thought within podcasting is growing now; however, there can't be enough of us out there, shining our light, and helping others shine theirs too, in my opinion.
California licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 32670) Dr. Polyné for sure can speak to the importance of diversity of thought in spaces where we often don’t see it. She has over a decade of experience, at some of the nation’s most prestigious and advanced hospital settings. She is a published author and expert in sleep health and mind/body wellness, and a public speaker. With a background in molecular and cellular biology, she advocates for the integration of science and mental health. 💪🏾Okay then….I see you 💅🏾
So we know that Dr. Polyné and crew, strive to bring important and inclusive conversations around the mental health space into podcasting. But what makes Baggage Drop unique is that while it works to provide tangible tools to help rewire your mental health for personal impact, there’s a focus on May, Mental Health Awareness Month.
For Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to create a show that promotes self-directed growth, and we specifically designed short episodes (~10 minutes) for easy listening.
So even with being a part of an ecosystem, there are just some things you learn as you go. While, Dr. Polyné knew podcasting would be fun and educational. She wish she had known just how much development, brainstorming, and preparing goes into the episodes. So all that is to say, it’s important toreally pace yourself. So, what are some of those things she learned along the way?
1. Don't overthink it. 2. Relax and have fun. 3. Be yourself, and the right people will find you!
Yup…that’s true the right people are out there…and they will find you. I’m so glad you found Feature Friday…hopefully you found it to be quite entertaining. (see what I did there ?✨
So go find Baggage Drop…and let it all hang loose… 😲…emotionally of course.
