You’re almost there (in my Princess Tiana voice 😀)…..but first it’s time for Feature Friday!✨

The need is just to see education as beyond the the textbooks and beyond the classroom to develop real-world learners.

The question….’why is there a need for a podcast like yours?’ And in learning about Dominic Lawson and all that he’s doing, it’s not just about amazing the podcast he has but also about the work he’s doing to uplift the black community.

So what’s his podcast you’re asking? 👀 I got you, it’s called Black Is America and it is about highlighting little known African American people and stories that have helped shaped the story of the United States.

That is so important and I feel it’s even more important than ever especially nowadays in a time where people are trying to delete our history and impact on America as it stands today.

In addition to Black is America, Dominic also hosts The Startup Life Podcast. This is where he got his start after writing a blog for a year about starting a business and other business topics for and his wife suggested podcasting. (Hmmm…womens intuition I see 💅🏾) .

Well she was right because… The Startup Life Podcast is powerful and resourceful content which gives listeners the edge they need in building their businesses and climbing the corporate ladder. Some of his interviews have included Marc Randolph (Co-Founder & First CEO of Netflix), Tom Golisano (Founder & Chairman of Paychex), and others.

I love podcasting and telling stories across multiple genres. So I think creating critically-acclaimed shows across multiple genres is how I would define what [being the best] looks like.

Indeed Dominic, I see you. He is a 14 time award winning podcast host, editor and producer.

14 time award winner?!! Like if his awards were a person they’d be in their teenage years! Thats amazing! 😅 I know I’m random, that’s how I think about things sometimes though! That’s a lot! He knows it too, just look at those smiles as they hold that Webby award.

And as if that wasn’t enough he is also an entrepreneur as well. He and his wife started Owls Education Company. The goal is to present education in a different way.

We do this through curriculum writing, training and in-class consulting. One of those ways is through podcasting encouraging teachers to use it as a teaching tool and to also present new ideas through our shows.

Yes, podcasting is multifaceted and it’s so dope to see someone not only host, but have their own company, and also use podcasting to encourage and teach as well! The boundaries of podcasting are limitless and I think Dominic certainly shows that.

Soon to be seven years strong in the podcasting industry, having launched his own company, and a few pods…what is something that he has learned…

If you are going to use ChatGPT, make sure it’s as an assistant and not a ghostwriter. This tool just like other tools can be of great assistance to the podcaster. But don't let it replace your voice and who you are.

True story….and I know a certain former feature..*cough* Krystal *cough* who would co-sign that….😅
