For far too long reviews of our shows have been too few and far between. We’re building a team of community rooted writers to change that.

🎵Tis the season for Feature Friday fa la la la la la la la laaa🎶

Improve…because there’s always room for it. If you’ve ever talked yourself out of a great idea before it even had a chance to breathe, this one should hit you right in the chest . Yes… I see you, because we have to take risks and really take chances and that’s what todays Feature Friday Ermias Hagos, does. He’s host of The Black Experience Podcast. He may call himself a beginner, but after nearly three years, and over 100 episodes, ( Congrats by the way 🎉 because pod fade is real!) and a whole studio setup with lights, cameras, mics, and a live audience. Yeah…that “beginner” title is not really looking like it, now is it?

Ermias created The Black Experience after being one of the few Black students in a school where the population was under 2% Black. Instead of shrinking, he built a platform. A space to highlight the Black community he found on campus and eventually across the Pacific Northwest. The podcast now uplifts Black creatives, sharing their journeys, their work, and the advice they’d give to the next generation coming up behind them. And let’s be real there is a need for voices like this!

A word. Because it’s true…visibility is fuel. And The Black Experience Podcast is doing exactly that. Listeners walk away inspired, with new connections, new ideas, and in many cases, a bold call to action. That’s impact. And Ermias isn’t just creating content he’s building community. His goal is clear: hit 20,000 YouTube subscribers, secure 5 sponsorships, and reach 1,000 Substack followers by 2026. With the way he’s been moving? Very doable. Very.

What’s wild is that none of this was planned. A simple 5-episode mini project turned into friends asking to be on the show…then roommates…then more people…and suddenly he was 100 episodes deep with a full studio audience. That’s the magic of saying “yes” to your gift before you fully understand where it’s taking you. Sometimes the journey is already unfolding you just gotta keep walking.

So now that we learned all that…what are some tips Ermias has for us?
